I have much to do in these few days and little time to do it in. The next few posts will be short. Too many things are left by student bodies for the end of term. When remaining essays and exams abound. The Gospel tells us today that the law ‘thou shalt not kill’ is too loose. It must be qualified or supported by ‘thou shalt not be angry.’ It apparently doesn’t seem to damn one immediately, but puts one in danger of damnation. Mind wandering, book-pile growing, end of post.

Adventures on the internet
  • Here we go: ‘Angels and Demons’ will now continue the stupidity of the davinci code, and in the middle of Rome. I predict a big flop, if the story has the same racy plot as the first movie. But it will sell the damned book, of course. Anyhow, muchos dineros for Mr. Brown.
  • I’m weary of the part of the dialogue coming out of Iran. Most of it is self-confident anti-US, anti-Israel rhetoric. Nothing positive to work with, it seems. Again, this terrorist sort of antagonism to Israel can be based on little else but religion. I understand that there are some violations of human rights in Israel, but nothing so serious that it justifies ‘wiping off the map’ an entire nation. But surely, surely Islam is not a religion of hate. That cannot be. Stand up, O Representatives of Islam, and say it isn’t so. When the time comes, Europe must stand up to defend Israel.
Scripture
You have heard that it was said to them of old, “Thou shalt not kill.” And whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment. But I say to you, that whosoever is angry with his brother, shall be in danger of the judgment. And whosoever shall say to his brother, “Raca,” shall be in danger of the council. And whosoever shall say, “Thou Fool,” shall be in danger of hell fire. If therefore thou offer thy gift at the altar, and there thou remember that thy brother hath any thing against thee; leave there thy offering before the altar, and go first to be reconciled to thy brother: and then coming thou shalt offer thy gift. (Mt 5:21-24)
