Lent, third Friday

February 29, 2008 | Leave a Comment

It’s that magic day that appears once every four years. Blame the Emperor and the Pope. And here, some leap year saints. Pew Foundation, Pew Foundation. Enough, already. The Church has always survived, the Church will survive until the end. NLM compares the situation to product marketing. This comparison looks like hostility to the New [...]

England was hit with an earth tremor last night, I hear. Not very scary, although apparently some chimneys fell over near the epicenter. I just thought the other residents in my house were making a noise somewhere. Anyhow, back to work.

Lent, third Tuesday

That first week of Lent, I’d thought that most people would be fasting from the internet, or something. After a while, here we are, back to normal, and everyone hoping to at least be nominated to blogger’s awards. So, then. Term is coming to an end. Easter approaches. Three essays to work through and I’m [...]

Lent, third Monday

It is the third week of Lent and we are almost halfway through. Easter will be memorable, I’m certain. The current project I’m adopting is the Twelve minor prophets, an overview. St. Polycarp, disciple of Apostle John, was bishop of Smyrna. According to the linked article, Tertullian said that the true Church could be traced through him and Eusebius wrote that he was faithful to apostolic tradition. This is an excellent article, I’ll read it in full later.

St. Peter Damian

A couple of days ago, I spotted something strange in a high street store: a Jesus action figure in the front window. Being a great admirer and ardent disciple of the God-man, I decided to find out more. Apparently, it is aimed at all theologies and has poseable arms to reach towards the heavens and [...]

Busy, busy. How does one die with dignity? I’ll be trying to answer that question today. And it’s not easy. For when a person can no longer live as we think a human being should live, many people consider them to be a burden on society and unworthy of having a life. The pressure to [...]
