Something odd. Or is it?

As I sat in the church before Mass this evening, I picked through the new hymnals that had been put into the pews. I found that a popular Christmas song (is it really a hymn)
God rest you, merry gentlemen

had been turned into

God rest you, people gathered here.

This must be part of the horrible, politically correct editing that Catholic bloggers grumble about now and again. I’m trying to tune out the pop music that has worked its way into Communion now. Today there was a one person song, sung most affectedly while most of the other people gathered there sat quietly. Thankfully, I have been listening to a lot of Taize recently, so it plays in my head.
