Tomorrow is my last day in the U.A.E., for a while. I have been visiting with family for Easter. Weekends here are Friday and Saturday now, better than the earlier Thursday-Friday arrangement. When I was in convent school here, we used to get Fridays and Sundays off. The Church here has permission to celebrate Sunday Mass on either of Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Catechism classes are run on both Friday morning and Sunday evening.

If you were to see the large population of Catholics here (Indians, Philipino, primarily), you would understand why it is that there are some three or four services on each of Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Needless to say, the bishop and priests, the nuns and catechists, church ushers, altar servers and others do a splendid job managing everything.

This is a church that is actually quiet on weekdays, located as it is away from the streets and in the centre of the grounds.
