The gospel of Judas

April 2, 2007 |

Some of us may know the popular parody site, the Onion. Yesterday, they posted an interesting article which showed the U.S. President George Bush defending his position of having his head stuck between the posts of the staircase in the White House.

In the future, there will be history books teaching Americans about their great presidents. President Bush will be there, of course. Everybody will remember him. And then a group of people will inevitably arise, with fragments of articles from the Onion, questioning everything everybody knows about President Bush.

The gospel of Judas may not have been a parody. However, it was every bit as fictional, and treated so by the Church of God. If present attitudes toward historical record continue though, the ‘who knows if it’s all true after all this time’ attitudes, the parodies of today could make history in a few thousand years.  If the world doesn’t end very quickly.
